AAM Speaks About Risk Asset Investing for Life Insurance Companies at Fall 2014 NALC Conference

At the Fall 2014 NALC Conference, held September 10-12, 2014, Pete Wirtala, CFA, AAM Insurance Strategist, presented on the topic of “Risk Asset Investing for Life Insurance Companies.” At a time when low interest rates have pressured bond portfolio returns, many insurers have considered investing in risk assets like high yield and convertible bonds to improve returns and diversification. The presentation discussed the strategic considerations involved in making an allocation to these assets, including financial strength, underwriting volatility, and capital adequacy. It touched on a variety of different asset classes commonly held by insurance investors, their pros and cons, and recent industry developments in how these assets are used.

In addition to speaking, AAM also attended the conference.
